Zinnia was inspired by our amazing friends at Doggy Bag Malaysia, the love that they pour into their wholesome product range, and how they walk the talk in caring for the strays in their neighbourhood. Blooming Unicorns

"Do you know, I always thought unicorns were fabulous monsters, too? I never saw one alive before!"

"Well, now that we have seen each other," said the unicorn, "if you’ll believe in me, I’ll believe in you."

– Lewis Carroll; Through the Looking Glass

Yes, you read that right. We have unicorns ... and we're pairing these mythical magical creatures with our other adored passion - succulents!

Meet the Blooming Unicorns and get to know the personalities

PETUNIA

Petunia loves to read. She’s a bibliophile with an ever growing collection of books for her bookshelves. Her idea of paradise is a library that’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and serves coffee! Petunia is also a hopeless romantic and the sight of old couples who hold hands while walking makes her smile.

DAISY

Daisy loves to travel. Her favourite past time is to pour over maps researching new travel destinations. She has an old gypsy soul and loves sharing adventure stories with her niece and nephew. Daisy collects postcards from vibrant cities located all over the world. Don’t forget to send her one the next time the travel bug bites you.

LIZZIE

Lizzie is a music lover. She believes in music the way some people believe in fairy tales. Never a dull moment around Lizzie as she’s always breaking out in song! She recently started playing the cello and every Friday evening, although nervous, she performs at the little park around the corner. If you’re ever in the neighbourhood drop by.

A White and Succulent Wedding

Wedding flowers that were literally planned from the other side of the world. The couple lived in Portland and in the months leading up to their big day here in KL all the little details were put together via a series of diligent emails and messages.

Congratulations M&J on your beautiful wedding. M's bridal bouquet featured a lush, textured mix of hydrangeas, roses, ranunculus, eustoma, and assorted jadeite hued succulents. With 5 elements, it was a large and heavy one for the bride but she loved it and we love how well this showstopper turned out!

The Groom had matching boutonnières (for day and night use) with a sampling of the mix from the bridal bouquet.

Meanwhile the rest of the bridal party were given pinned corsaged with a composition of rose and lilac hued caspia with just a touch of greenery to bring the look together.

This is the intricate root system that nurtures succulents. When used in a bouquet composition, the roots are left intact and wrapped-up carefully. That way, when the flowers have faded, the bride has the option of growing and propagating them as a growing and lasting memory of her wedding bouquet.

In case you're wondering how such delicate flowers withstood the recent heatwave we were experiencing in this part of the world - well simply put we left nothing to chance! Here's a behind-the-scenes glance at one of the mechanics put into place to make sure the flowers were optimum.

Green That Balcony

As the neighbourhood flower shop, we keep getting requests from plant loving citizens of Bangsar South for balcony suited plants that can take the brunt of the sun.

Here's a selection of sun-loving, balcony dwellers that work in big ways for small spaces. Naturally, these cute poppets would double up as green gifts as well - the kind that keeps on growing and giving.

Wedding: Sherril & Anand, in a Garden by the Sea

A wedding that was 8 months of planning and full of delightful details. Sherril loved the idea of using succulents in the wedding and naturally that became our starting point. Next up came a beautiful colour palette that ranged from rich plum to jadeite green, which she shared with all attending the wedding and in true form guests arrived wearing apparels inspired by the colour theme! Next we added all the shabby, chic, rustic details and voila the pieces fell into place.

The gorgeous bridesmaids getting dolled up with fresh flowers in their hair.
Love how the jewel toned succulents in each bouquet pops out to announce its presence!

Each bouquet was just slightly different from the other - specially made for the lovely lady carrying it.

The bride and her bridesmaids. This photo perfectly describes the joy and fun that surrounded this wedding.

Fairy lights everywhere added a magical ambiance.

Single cymbidium orchid sits pretty on the place setting.

All the theme colours of the wedding gloriously made up this sculptural wishing tree.

A river of colour poured down from the wishing tree onto the table.

Submerged orchids dotted with flickering light from floating candles were placed everywhere in the cocktail area preceding the ballroom.
